Neurobiology is a multidisciplinary science that involves study of structure and function of the nervous system for understanding the behavioral, cognitive and development aspects of the nervous system at the cellular and molecular level. Major Programs and initiatives
- Dementia Science ProgramThe general objectives of the project include setting up of three long-term population-based cohorts of aging population to understand the process of Dementia in terms of its incidence and prevalence rate. Four hospital based registries will be established to catch the clinically defined Dementia population along with setting up of a Bio-bank/Bio-repository at NBRC, Manesar.

- A Population Based Prospective Cohort Study to Unravel the Causes of Stroke and Cognitive Decline: Under the project incidence and risk / protection factors for stroke and cognitive decline will be determined in an urban and rural community
- Hypoxia Ischemic Brain Injury (HIBI): Study of hypoxia on different neural cell type; creation of in vitro model to design therapeutic strategies against cerebral palsy in preterm infants, hypoxia induced changes in Blood Brain Barrier and adjunct therapeutic interventions will be studied.

- Glial Cell Biology: Projects shave been implemented to explore issues pertaining to neuro-inflammation, glial activation in hypertension, neurodegeneration and neuronal cell death.
New Initiatives
A Call for proposal for developing neurotools, techniques, and procedures for brain disorders and pathological conditions was made in the year 2021-22. The major goal is to start the novel & innovative biotechnology based ideas in the domain of neurobiology for making available affordable technology for diagnostic & therapeutic purpose for routine examination by the clinicians or for the direct utilization by the patients.
