Project Title: Nanotechnology based single dipstick for instant detection of multiple adulterants in milk.
Project Id: BT/PR32941/ATGC/127/7/2019 Dt. 12.02.2020
PI: Dr. Vimal Ramani, College of Dairy Science, Kamdhenu University, Amreli
Summary: India ranks highest in milk production. But across the country, milk adulteration is haunting problem as approximately 68.4% of the milk was foundto be adulterated. Two versions of Nanotechnology based dipstick for instant detection of milk adulterants have been developed.
In the 1st version, total eight individual dipsticks for the instant detection of starch, urea, hydrogen peroxide, detergent, neutralizer, maltodextrin and ammonium sulphatehave been developed. On the otherhand, the 2ndversion is a Nanotechnology based single dipstick for instant detection of multiple adulterants in milk. The unique selling product (USP) of this innovation is ease of use and instantaneous result.
Patent office of India has granted patent for this dipstick device. Patent No. 395639. Third party validation of this dipstick has also been carried out by Commissioner Office, Food and Drugs Control Administration, (FDCA), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. This innovation has secured 1st Rank at National Level in the KRITAGYA Hackathon 2.0, which was organized by the National Agriculture Higher Education Programme (NAHEP) in association with the Animal Science Division of ICAR.
