Response & Strategy
DBT and its Autonomous Institutes along with Public
Sector Undertakings are working relentlessly to mitigate
the COVID-19 global health crisis through development
of diagnostics, vaccines, monoclonals, novel protection
equipment, support to Startups, scaling up of diagnostic
capacity and rapid regulatory response.
A multi-pronged research strategy and action plan was
evolved for an immediate response, augmentation of
COVID-19 testings across the country as well as for long-
term preparedness to tackle the COVID-19 infection.
16 Autonomous Intitutions (AIs) of DBT are actively
engaged in the development of candidate vaccines,
therapeutics, and suitable animal models for COVID-19,

genomic studies on the host and pathogen.
