DBT-Karnataka Finishing School Programme
Department of Biotechnology jointly with Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science &Technology, Government of Karnataka is supporting “Biotech Finishing School Programme”, also known as Biotechnology Skill Enhancement Programme - BiSEP. Phase-II of this programme is under implementation since 2017-18. The Department has provision to provide fellowship support to up to180 candidates per year under this programme. Students are selected through online entrance test at national level and personal interview. Selection process is very stringent and all selected students are paid fellowship, which at present is Rs. 10,000/month. As per MoU between Karnataka Government and Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC), New Delhi, the certification of students is carried out by LSSSDC.
Proposals for setting up Biotechnology Finishing School at some other states are under consideration.
- 598 students have been trained during last five years under the DBT-Karnataka Finishing School Programme.
