Current Programme

v  March 12, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Zandu Foundation for Healthcare, Ambach has organized a Farmers Training Programme on “Good Agricultural Practices, Post-harvest Processing and Market Linkages of Medicinal Plants” at Village Ambach, Taluka Pardi, District Valsad, Gujarat. A total of 127 progressive farmers (44 female farmers and 83 male famers) from different villages of South Gujarat region have participated in this training program. Under the training program, important aspects were addressed related to medicinal plants such as Good Agricultural Practices of targeted species, soil, vermicompost production and bio-fertilizer management, disease and pest control measures, post-harvest processing, and market linkages etc. The resource persons from different research institutes, KVK, stakeholders etc. were invited to deliver lead lectures. This training was followed by the Group discussion session with farmers wherein farmers express their views. Field visit of the Zandu Foundation for Health Care was also organized where the farmers have visited the nursery, green house, the Rashi vatika, the Nav-graha vatika, the human organ based herbal garden, the germplasm garden, main field cultivation of Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha), Senna alexandrina (Senna) and Gymnema sylvestre (Madhunashni) etc.

v  March 12, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at South Asia Biotechnology Centre (SABC), Jodhpur has organized a Kisan Mela at the cumin demonstration plot at Village Budi Arjunpura, distrct Nagaur, Rajasthan. Over 100 farmers along with representatives of Spices Board, ICAR-NRCSS, State Agriculture and Horiculture Department (Govt. of Rajasthan), M/s SRK Spices Pvt. Ltd., Jodhpur and M/s Aachi Masala Foods Pvt. Ltd., Chennai participated in the event. Expression of Interest was signed between Farmers’ Self-Help Group led by progressive farmer Shri Hariram Baswana and Shri Shayam Jaju, M/s SRK Spices Pvt. Ltd., Jodhpur for procurement, aggregation and buy-back of quality IPM cumin in premium price from smallholder farmers of Cluster-1 of Nagaur District of Rajasthan. Live demonstration was carried out on threshing of newly harvested cumin of Biotech-KISAN farmer Shri Hariram Baswana by the State-of-the-Art Threshing-cum-Primary Processing Machine subsidized by the Spices Board. M/s SRK Spices Pvt. Ltd. bought harvested batch of IPM cumin immediately after the threshing from the farmers’ field at a record price of ₹ 16,000 per quintal against the prevailing market price of ₹ 13,000 – a premium of over 20% to honor the commitment of farmers growing quality cumin in Nagaur District of Rajasthan.

v  March 12-20, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour has organized a series of Farmers’ Interaction-cum-Field Days at Araria, Aurangabad, Katihar, Khagaria and Purnia districts in Bihar state on demonstration of tissue culture banana cultivation. The training was imparted to the farmers on using elite tissue-culture raised planting material along with improved agronomical packages, mainly for controlling panama disease. Over 150 farmers benefitted from these events.

v  March 13-20, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour has organized a series of Farmers’ Interaction-cum-Field Days at Banka and Khagaria districts in Bihar state on scientific bee-keeping practices. A total of 67 farmers benefited from the events.

v  March 13-20, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour has organized a series of Farmers’ Interaction-cum-Field Days at Araria, Aurangabad and Banka districts in Bihar state on scientific goat farming. Various aspects such as regular deworming, feedblock support and green fodder were covered during these events. A total of 67 farmers benefited from the events.

v  March 13-21, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour has organized a series of Farmers’ Interaction-cum-Field Days at Araria, Katihar and Purnia districts in Bihar state on demonstration of Makhana cultivation in farmers’ field. Various aspects related to popping, value-addition and marketing of Makhana were covered. A total of 129 farmers benefited from the events.

v  March 15, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh has organized “Farmers-Scientists Interaction meeting” at Malapalli Village in collaboration with ATMA, Kurnool and Department of Agriculture, Yemmiganur Division, Kurnool District. A total of 175 farmers beneficiaries participated in the event.

v  March 15-17, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, Kolkata has organized Farmers’ Training Programme on scientific animal husbandry practices such as application of region-specific Mineral Mixture supplementation, deworming with specific Antihelmenthics, vaccination for goats against PPR and Goat Pox, vaccination for poultry, supplementations of quality concentrate feed and adoption of nutritious fodder cultivation, etc. Above 60 farmers benefitted from the event.

v  March 15, 2021 and March 22, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Agri Biotech Foundation, Hyderabad has organized a Field Day for potential vegetable farmers on March 15, 2021 at village Challagarige, district Boopalapalli, Telangana. The latest innovation in cultivation of vegetables were demonstrated to the potential rural entrepreneurs in the region. Farmers Awareness-cum-Training Programme on application of biofertilizers and biopesticides was organized on March 22, 2021 at village Karivarigudem, district Khammam, Telangana. Above 200 farmers participated in these events.

v  March 15-23, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour has organized a series of Farmers’ Interaction-cum-Field Days at Aurangabad, Banka, Katihar, Khagaria and Purnia districts in Bihar state on scientific mushroom cultivation. Various aspects related to cultivation of oyster, milky and butter mushroom along with value-added products and market linkages were covered. A total of 350 farmers benefited from the events.

v  March 22-23, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at Acharya NG Ranga Agriculture University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh has organized the event on “World Water Day” for creating awareness to the farmers on importance of water and conservation agriculture. A Field-Day on popularization of high-yielding improved variety of groundnut (K-1812) along with Farmers’ Interaction Programme on formation of FPOs were also organized at Errabadu village of Gonegandla mandal in Kurnool district and KVK, Utukur, Kadapa district, respectively. A total of 130 farmers in the area participated in these events.

v  March 23, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya has organized the Farmers’ Training Programme on scientific pig farming with special emphasis on prevention from African Swine Fever (ASF). Above 50 pig farmers benefitted from the event.

v  March 23-25, 2021: Biotech-KISAN Hub at West Bengal University of Animal & Fishery Sciences, Kolkata has organized Farmers’ Training Programme on scientific aquaculture practices such as application of lime in divided dose for water treatment, application of Ornamental Fish farming and value-addition in fish products along with entrepreneurship development, etc. Above 100 fish farmers benefitted from the event.
